Sims 3 patch update problems !?
Just as soon as my patch is about to finish updating it says ' Update error: Invalid file found'
I can't update it !! how can i fix it - all the other updates were fine and this one is just playing upi've tried it 4 times but it comes up with the same thing :/

Honestly i'm not sure but updates come out around 2 weeks at a time. So it should be coming out about a week from now. I can't wait for it because the pets have ALOT of glitches on my PC but no glitches at all on my MAC!

The Sims 3 Patch help..?
When patching from 1.0.632 to 1.18, the first patch, i get a "failed to load dll:dsetup" error. it patches and at the very end this error appears and terminates.. ive tried from the launcher and manual patch. I also fixed 60 something dll errors in my registry.. This error always appears and no one can give me a clear fix, any ideas? I wanna patch! im stuck with the original...The Sims 3 Patch help..?

I NEED MAJOR HELP! My Sims 3 version is 1.0.631.0000.1 and I need to download the 3 patches that came out. But evertime I go to the download page, this pops up: "unable to connect to the EA Download Manager"... Do you have a no-censor-blur patch in? If so you need to pull it out and put the original, censored file back in in order to update.
If that's the problem, you need to go here:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
And replace this file:

Afterwards, you may want to use a censor patch that comes in package file format, so you can just remove it when updating. Mod the Sims has one.

Can't install Sims 3 Patch Version 1.2.7. Help Please?!?
I'm trying to install the patch 1.2.7, because the speeds are frustrating me and watching my Sims sleep for 8 minutes is QUITE dull. So I downloaded the patch, and as soon as I try to run it, the installishield pops up, loads, and then tells me this message as an error.

Problems with the 1.10 sims 3 patch!?
after i installed the 1.10 patch, my sims couldnt build skills! whenever i click on an item (excersise machine, mirror, etc.) i cant practice speech or workout or even build cooking skills when i watch tv! so i went to the library and tried to look for skill books but there werent any. i was really confused!

Ok, I went to play sims 3 (I have base game and world adventures) and it said it wanted to get an update so I clicked yes. It done it, but then the launcher froze and I couldn't press any buttons. In the corner it showed it was version 0.0.0.0 and it showed all the icons of the latest games.

So I did, but when I downloaded the EADM it said it wanted to download Adobe Air. I pressed 'I agree' but then there was an error about adminstrators. The EADM download aborted. my brother had this problem i havent myself but i dont own world aventures add on but honestly i found the easiet way to get round this is to email EA and specify you dont have a full understanding of computers, they will reply within a day or 2 usually and they will give you a walk step by step guide on how to resolve the problem

I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue with the newest patch update.
Before we updated the game it ran like it was supposed to. Well, the photography skill didn't work (which I know some people were saying that it was broken when Generations came out) but that was the only issue. Now that we've updated it my sims will freeze a lot. Time will jump about four minutes and then they'll do their action, but freeze again not too soon after. It takes forever to get anything to done and my young adult Sim keeps missing most of her work shift because she freezes on her way out the door and then to the car. Most of the time she misses the carpool so then she has to take her own car and it still takes forever for her to get to her actual work place. Her boyfriend doesn't have that issue b/c I'm able to get him out of the house before the carpool comes so he's able to get there. I have to get the kids up an hour earlier so they can get out of the house an hour earlier to make it to school by the time that it's time for school. (So they'll leave around the time the message appears that the bus will be there in an hour).
We do have CC in the game, but it worked fine with it in there before the patch and then we got the patch and now it does all that.
Anyone else having this same issue or any ideas on how we can fix this so that it's better?

So my computer had something wrong with it and I had to restart everything and I lost everything. So when I installed all my sims 3 games back I updated it to the last update that was there (game version, 4.2.32.007001) . maybe you should try the download again. I first experienced the same event, I download and install again from scratch. Does anyone know about a new patch for Sims 3 Pets?
There's been a lot of talk about glitches on the new Sims 3 Pets game. The pets look like they're melting, or what mine does, the eyes on the cats and dogs are bulging out of their heads and the fur doesn't fit correctly around the animals. I was wondering if anyone has heard of a patch that EA is going to be putting out to fix everyone's problems. Because the glitch on my computer is starting to bother me. Can't install Sims 3 Patch Version 1.2.7. Help Please?!?
I'm trying to install the patch 1.2.7, because the speeds are frustrating me and watching my Sims sleep for 8 minutes is QUITE dull. So I downloaded the patch, and as soon as I try to run it, the installishield pops up, loads, and then tells me this message as an error.
"The Setup has detected that the installed game region is incorrect. This update requires a different game region in order to be installed."

Well, then you need to make sure you downloaded the US version of the patch. You may have downloaded the english-UK version. I would say delete the download and try to download it again, making sure you get the one for the USA. I know fallout 3 does that, but not sure about sims. That is my best advice.

Unfortunately there is ot way that you can switch from 1.4 to 1.2.7. I would recommend that you uninstall sims 3 (save all custom content first) and than install it again. I tryed to reinstall the sims the other day and it installed fine. However when i tryed to patch it the patch installer says "Your pc does not have enough space to install this patch please free up some space and try again". But its impossible because i still have over 800G leftSims 3 patch problems?
I would recommend skipping the patch anyway- I've heard it cause more harm than good. I had to reinstall after patching because the game would not load. Fortunately, I had backed up most of my user data so I didn't lose much. I reinstalled, copied my backup data back into the Sims 3 folder %26amp; have been fine.

Sims 3 Patch 1.29 Question?
I have tried to install this patch 3 TIMES. This is frustrating for me becuase it is a patch that need almost an hour to install. That is 3 HOURS that I have wasted trying to get this to work. It finishes all the way through, but then after I select yes/accept on the two boxes that come up afterwards, it tells me that it still needs an update! I am downloading the latest one, so this isn't right.

I downloaded the new patch on my laptop and used a usb flash drive to transfer it to my desktop.... anyways, my question is: What folder do I put it in? Ok well Sims 3 recently released a patch, which included the ability to fix the speed thing going on with many sims 3 games (mine included). This would be a great help on my game but I can't install the patch!
The patch installer uses the EA Download Manager but every time I open the EA Download Manager a window says "Flash plug-in required. Select OK to launch web browser for Adobe's Flash Plug-in download." There is an "OK" and a "Cancel" button.
Many a time have I downloaded this Flash plug-in to try and fix the problem but the same EA Download Manager window always comes up. I have also gone to different sites and downloaded other versions of the EA Download Manager but nothing has worked.
Can someone help me please?

i found the file that is destroyed (shaders_win32.precomp)
but since i'm on vacation now and i don't have my original cd with me i can't find this file in my disk and paste it in my files... =_=
i already tried downloading it from the internet but it didn't work...
so i was wondering, can someone send me this file if u are sure it's working properly with your game??? it would be a great help i'm awfully bored and i really need to play :P

My SIms 3 won't update to the latest patch 1.12.70 ?
When I open up the game launcher i downloaded the new Sims 3 patch, 1.12.70 etc. After finishing I reopened my game launcher again and my sims 3 version was still 1.8 something like it was before! NO matter how many times I redownload the new patch none of the updates would show up on my sims game and the game launcher would continue to show that my game was still at version 1.8. Downloaded Sims 3 1.2.7 Patch to my desktop... Now What?
I have read every single question on this site related to Sims 3 patches, but I haven't been able to figure out what I need to do in order to install a patch to my game. I downloaded the patch and saved it to my desktop. I figured I have to take that file and place it somewhere else, but I don't know where that would be. I am waiting to load my Game Launcher and it to ask me to update, but it hasn't done that, so something is still wrong.

I have been having much trouble with this stupid EA Patch for the Sims 3 - No, the specs of my computer arn't required. I'm using XP.
I have un-installed and re-installed twice. There is no custom content or mods WHAT SO EVER. Not even Riverview.
The game continues to crash with the patch installed. Anyone else have this problem and know how to solve it?

Have you tried to disable the anti-virus first and any other software and try it this way.

Sims 3 Patch Problems?
So I just installed Sims 3, and I'm trying to manually patch it up to 1.6.6 so I can install World Adventures. It gets to 89% in the 1.0.6 to 1.2.7 patch, and the current file it's processing is the launcher.exe, and get the "dfc-gorrila error, invalid file" message box that so many other people got.
I tried uninstalling EA download manager, and it didn't help.

Sims 3 Patch help to get patch 1.18 to 1.19?
As I was updating the Sims 3, my power decided that it didn't like me. Long story short, my base game says that it isn't compatible sense it's only patched up to 1.18 and it needs to be 1.19. The launcher won't let me patch seeing as I have other expansion packs installed and it doesn't see that I need another patch. Hey. So I have every expansion of Sims 3, and just downloaded the latest patch: 1.18/2.13/3.9/4.6/5.4/6.1
Now every time I try to install downloads from the Sims Store OR play the game an error pops up.
It says:
Unable to start game

The Sims 3 patch is something new. I installed the patch successfully, but for some reason the patch doesn't allow my game to load all the way. It starts to load and then the game shuts off, bringing me back to the desktop. Sorry to say, EA support wasn't much help. They always say the same thing. Shut down background tasks, update drivers, blah, blah, blah. All of that has already been done. I ended up having to back up, uninstall, then reinstall my game just to get the game to work after installing the patch. Sims 3 Patch won't download?
I have Sims 3 Ambitions. Some idiot stole my Mac which had my Ambitions disc in it. Now I have a new computer and just the regular Sims 3 disc left. I'm fine with that. But when I downloaded the Sims on my new computer I had problems. Problems I didn't have the first time. I have version 1.0 and it WILL NOT let me upgrade the patch. When I installed it on my stolen computer everything worked and was already updated. I have no mods installed and nothing foreign in my Sims folders. But every time I go to install the update it stops and exits out without even downloading. Can someone helps me? Im desperate and I would really like to update. When I start to play the sims 3 pets my game freezes whenever there something involving a horse, like when a horse walks by, or making a horse in the game... okay. I've been fooling around with this all night and I found my own answer, so I figured I'd post it in case somone else is reading this thread.
I have two hard drives. C and D, and I found that I had installed my EA downloader on my D Drive, and my game is loaded onto the C drive.
So I uninstalled it, (the Downloader, not the game) and reinstalled it onto the C Drive in My Electronic arts folder..(where it loads by defualt)
I then ran my game Launcher and the new patches showed up under updates. So, I guess the problem was the EA downloader was not connected correctly to receive new upddates, and moving it to the same folder as my game fixed things.
I can now use my Create a World tool..YAY!

Ok, so I just got the sims 3 pets about a week ago and the game is horrible! The animals are all distorted. I heard there was a patch coming out soon. Does a patch cost money? Is there anything about patches that I should know about? I've never used one for sims. ALSO, I don't have Internet on my computer! Patches are free. They fix problems in games. If you can get to any computer with internet access, you can download the manual patch from the Sims forum and move it onto a USB drive. Then move it from the drive to your computer and install it to your game.

After downloading the Sims 3 patch, my Sims started acting up. Now whenever I open it up, it takes anywhere 30 minutes to an hour to load onto the neighborhood and it runs REALLY slowly and all my sims have no traits so I can't play or make new sims. -.- Help please?Sims 3 problem with patch?
Copy your saved game then reinstall the game. Put your saved game back and you should be fine. I can't help you because once a game has been patched you can't get rid of it so that is really your only option.

Not yet, it is annoying because I can't handle how slow the game is without the use of the speeds.
Seriously though, do EA actually beta test their games. They push the game back %26amp; then release it with errors. You can't tell me that no major problems weren't found before they released it.
EA are getting bad with their crashes %26amp; bugs. The last 2 years, most games they release don't even look like they were tested for errors.
I wouldn't be surprised if they take a couple of weeks to get a patch out, just a major one they are working on. Damn EA.

Customising is low because they want people to spend money to buy items off their store. The price for items is a bit over the top. $17 gets you approx 13 hairstyles, where as a $30-$40 expansion pack gets you a whole lot more.
EA need to lift their game, because nearly every game they release has obvious errors. I wonder if anything does get properly Beta Tested with them.

There are a lot of theories circulating about how it's the fault of the individual PC (mainly from smug people whose PCs happen to like it!) but even if this is true it's not really acceptable, i've only had my hp Pavilion for 6 months, it meets all the performance levels for the game - but still no ultra speed.
I think it's universal enough a problem to need a fix, it's not only old computers that can only just run it that are struggling, there's something bigger wrong there.
Also my graphics aren't great and the game refuses to save anything (error 13?!) - not exactly user-friendly and disappointing, never had any problems at all with Sims 2 and I have all the expansions.
the thing with the speed "problem" isn't because EA did such a bad job at designing the game, but it's because most PCs running the game (and since the game is targeted to not only hard core gamers) isn't able to handle the game, specially if you have the ultra speed. the game would have to play the WHOLE town on ultra speed, and it would take a computer with a large processing power to do so...
if the real (ie sims 1 and 2) ultra speed was placed on sims 3, I'm pretty sure the game would crash in majority of your computers, so I suggest you stop complaining.
checking more reliable sources (ie forums) where techies hang out and you'd see more of the same answers.
the patch was out but EA took it offline because so many pirates were downloading it for the leaked version so you may be able to find a copy on pirate bay or some other torrent site (although it's illegal.) But the speeds not working isnt a bug, it's because you're comp is at the lower end of the system requirements, mine only has 2 speeds too :( but apparantly the patch will fix the story progression, but there's a mod out for that on MATY.

i have all 4 speeds and they work fine, so it would probably be a computer issue. for those of you with your "hp pavilion", no matter how much you pay for it or how new it is, those kinds of pcs will never run games properly, no matter what the retard store person tells you. go to an actual computer store, tell them what you want to pay and play and they will build something that will actually work.
there are 4 speeds in sims 3, the first three are the normal ones and the 4th one is just speed 3, but it stops once the sim has completed the task they were doing.
PS. i have been playing sims 3 daily since it was first leaked, and i have not come across a single bug/glitch/error yet!!??!!

On a game sooooooooo mega I thought it was only normal. Hardcore simmers will remember things like this happened with The Sims 2 and The Sims first came out, did it stop them from becoming some of the best games of all time...nope. A lot of the time their was glitches on the expansion packs as well. Game designing is a difficult thing to do, and on a game so difficult to make, design and actually have a hope of being put on the shelves, that is a lot of pressure. Something was bound to go wrong. Why don't you all stop moaning? Just remember... Things could be a whole LOT worse.
I agree with Claire, the ones that are blaming the error on ill-equipped PCs are usually the ones who have managed to play the game with no problems.
I don't think it's the fault of the individual PCs, the complaints are far too common for this to be true. It's a glitch, and those lucky enough to purchase a bug-free game shouldn't insist on planting doubt into the minds of those less fortunate. Hopefully a patch will be developed soon as it is almost impossible to play the game in constant real-time. It ruins the fun for me when I have to wait almost 10 minutes for my sim to wake up.

(even though my computer passes compatibility) I had a problem previously with my sims 2 expansion packs not working and installing in the wrong place. I spent 2 days on the phone with Ea and they finally gave up....

Im shelving my game till a patch is out. I just spent 10 hours last night and another 9 today creating my whole town with friends and family.
Then i start to get down with the whole social aspect of the game, going to visit, learning new things, jobs and that sort.
And one by one...my houses started to come up empty. My sims just left the houses. They are still in my sim bin, but gone from the houses.
All the skills they learned, contacts...gone.
Story line is is OFF but they still gone.
From what i have read on other forums there is s'posed to be a fix coming for it.
Ive binned my game untill further notice. The speed-up function is too essential to go on without.. Who wants to watch their sims snore for 10 minutes, eat breakfast for 3 minutes and then watch an empty house for another 10 minutes while they are at work..

No. At least not a patch that is for PC users or one to actually fix the freaking speed. I'm also sorta pissed off that the entire game isn't very... customizable. Like, you can't make your own town and what not. Sigh... I think they're supposed to include that in an upcoming patch too, but its still annoying. They update a lot of stuff and you can read about it on The Sims 3 facebook page--the discussion board is helpful.

I had the speed issue as well.....Mine was corrected by a new graphics card believe it or not.

the patch will most probably not change anything, each save file is on its on its own and in its own. one save which you chose will age, so have 1 main file and others, hope this helps!

I'm trying to update the Sims 3 with the most recent patch but every time I get to like...the VERY end, I get an error message saying that the update was interrupted and was unable to finish.

if you want to update sims 3 don't let it to auto-update,download update by yourself and install it on your own. In that case Sims 3 will not "crash" after update and everything will be just fine with game.

Why won"t my Sims 3 patch download?
I bought sims 3 through the digital download and just bought sims 3 WA through digital download as well. Before I can install WA I have to update sims 3 to 1.7... I currently just have the first patch of the sims 3 (1.0) because I had problems with patch 1.7 and uninstalled everything. Help with installing Sims 3 patch?
I've downloaded several different patches for the Sims 3 (like 1.4, 1.8, etc.), but have been unable to install ANY of them. Apparently, my version of the game is 1.4.something. Anyway, when I install, a box shows up near the end, saying either that a file is missing or that the "game region" is incorrect. Any ideas on what is going on? Is this a legal copy?
The game region being incorrect could mean your trying to download a European patch for a North American version of the game. Vice-Versa etc..

Why does the newsims 3 patch make my game crash during the loading screen?
After installing the latest sims 3 patch, my game will crash at random intervals during the loading process and the download installer thing crashes as well. What is wrong with my game? my gaming pc wasn't even 5 years old!
i got a new ram, i suggest you get one too, once i got that it was fine :D my ram met the requirements (thats why it worked) but because it only just met the requirements it was painfully slow, like yours, so get a bigger ram.
go into your local computer store and mention it, they will tell you what you need and probably have it in stock.
check your requirements, compare yours to the sims requirements, just type it on google.
call the support trouble shoot hotline, the number is near the back of the manual. (p33 in mine)
i don't think it would be the graphics card because if it was, things would be missing, like the trees, or grass (that's the problem my friend has and she said it was the graphics card)
i'm not sure if it could be the memory too but i say its the ram.
i went on this really good website which told me what i needed to get and how good the other components were.

I had the same issue, but when I got my new laptop it was faster, the quality improved, and the glitches were almost non-existent. Maybe you should try and see if your graphics card is up to date and other requirements for the game.

Baloney. There are PLENTY of people who are having problems with this game. There are threads and forums about it all over the place. EA themselves came out with a trick right away to fix the story progression not turning off, because even THAT didn't work from day one.
The game was delayed once in like February. It was always supposed to come out in early june. The online leak had nothing to do with its release date.
No patch yet. I check every day. Just keep googling Sims 3 patch and cross your fingers.When is the sims 3 patch coming out?

My kids HATE me now.

As for slowish game play, its depends on the machine you have, personally i have no major slowdowns at all, plays pretty good.
But as for the bugs, my god i have a huge list of em, and most are annoying. Just do a search on Google or any other search engine about "Sims 3 bugs" and you'll be amazed.
I personally got fed up and stopped playing, hopefully a patch will come out soon to address this mess...on the meantime more Civ 4 for me.

If a game runs perfectly fine for 60% of users and doesn't run for 40% then there is likely a problem with the engine, where the optimizations that are used at the heart of the engine (particularly for assembler instruction calls) they can be processor dependent and so some people will have one set of problems because of their CPU, some will have other problems and some will have no problems whatsoever. Windows Vista is plagued with these code issues.

But another thing, my sister never downloaded any updates or custom store items for her sims 3 and she has the fastest game ever! This could be triggered by a memory leak in the game. EA must have skipped that little detail while making a game. The memory leak gets worse every time you play and might burn out hardware in your computer.
Some computers ignore the memory leak and keep running the game. Other computers (maybe like ours) would respond to the leak and stop running the game to protect the hardware in the computer, thus leads to crashing the game.
But this is JUST A SUGGESTION to why it would be crashing. I don't know the real problem, but I thought it made sense. (Either that or you could be one of the people that actually doesn't have the requirements.)
I'm a new simmer so I never played Sims 1 or 2 before and I don't know about their patches. I've heard they came out 2 months after the game was released.

I'm a new simmer so I never played Sims 1 or 2 before and I don't know about their patches. I've heard they came out 2 months after the game was released.
I know for a fact that EA IS looking at the problems and I'm 99% sure they're making a patch for it. Maybe and hopefully the patch will come during the next 2 weeks.
I'm impatient and I only plan to wait for another week until I start getting REALLY mad.

All EA are saying is they are making one. They said it would take 2 weeks exactly 33 days ago. I check the launcher pretty much everyday but still no update. I'm even above the requirements for pets yet am still experiencing these issues. I hope that the reason they are taking longer than expected is because they have seen the deformity issues with lots of different graphics cards ( above and below requirements) so are making a patch that should accommodate all of them.

when you get expansions and stuff packs it uses the patch number for the last one you installed, not the base game patch number. I know, its confusing =\

Where do you live? If you don't live in the united states, 1.8.25.003001 patch won't work for you, you'll have to use a different patch, one with your area code. The Sims 3 launcher should be able to use the correct patch automatically(unless you pirated the game)

I read about the Sims 3 uncensored patch at asilee.com. They told me that the patch came out before the game did and left instructions on how to down load it. But, when I got to the Sims 3 game bin to replace the blur option with the uncensored patch, I couldn't find it.
