Help with installing Sims 3 patch?

I've downloaded several different patches for the Sims 3 (like 1.4, 1.8, etc.), but have been unable to install ANY of them. Apparently, my version of the game is 1.4.something. Anyway, when I install, a box shows up near the end, saying either that a file is missing or that the "game region" is incorrect. Any ideas on what is going on? Is this a legal copy?



The game region being incorrect could mean your trying to download a European patch for a North American version of the game. Vice-Versa etc..



If your a North American Sims 3 players, try this:



Go to Start

click Run and type in "regedit"

open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Then SOFTWARE

Then Sims

Then The Sims 3

double click SKU

Now change the value to 2

1 = US

2 = UK

7 = Asian



PS we know it's for the PC because Sims 3 is only on PC
