How do you download the new sims 3 patch?

I dont know if im being stupid and the patch is automatically put onto your game or what... I'm a little confused as to how this patch business works. Can anyone help?How do you download the new sims 3 patch?
To fix the non patching make sure you have all non maxis things off, Mods etc. Things you got off the sims3.com are fine



Take the sims 3 out of the disk drive



Install the update

Double click on your sims 3 icon. Then when the launcher opens it "should" tell you. If it doesn't in the bottom left hand corner there should be a game updates tab or something like that click on it and check for updates, then just follow any instructions.How do you download the new sims 3 patch?

Post #3. If you don't have any mods, it should patch fine without having to jump through hoops. I don't use the launcher at all.
